Gamma prompt guide
Gamma advertises 20+ AI models and an Agent for editing across the whole deck. Credit cost depends on the model and how long the generation is, and image models show their cost before you generate.
How to prompt Gamma
- Cover Goal, Audience, Content, Tone and Format in every prompt.
- Set a slide (card) count and a text density (brief, medium, detailed).
- Name the audience and what they should decide or do after the deck.
- Give real facts, figures, names and dates to work from; vague topics come back generic.
- If you already have material, paste it (or import a file or URL) instead of generating from a topic.
- Give a slide-by-slide outline when the order matters.
- Say the image style (photo, illustration, icons, none) and any brand colours.
- Limit bullets per slide and ask for a title plus one key message per slide.
- Expect to refine: fix structure with the Agent, then polish individual cards.
The shape of a good prompt
[Goal: what the deck must achieve] [Audience: who, what they know] [Format: N slides, text density, presentation/doc/webpage] [Content: key points or slide-by-slide outline, real data] [Tone] [Visuals: image style, brand colours] [Closing: call to action]
Avoid
- A bare topic with no audience or goal
- Leaving slide count and text amount open
- Cramming several decks or purposes into one prompt
- Making up figures when you could paste real source material
- Expecting the first generation to be final
