The claim

Use ChatGPT to write blogs and copy ten times faster and earn more.

Still a staple of side-hustle listicles, but 2026 coverage is mostly about writing jobs disappearing rather than new opportunities.

How we checked

This is an evidence check, not a hands-on test. We reviewed platform rules and policies, published earnings data, regulator warnings and reporting: 4 sources, listed below.

What the evidence shows

The same tools that make freelancers faster also let clients do basic writing themselves, so cheap blog and article gigs have shrunk and pay has fallen. Writers who sell expertise, strategy or editing still find work, but a beginner churning out AI drafts competes with everyone else doing exactly the same thing.

Realistic earnings: Most beginners earn little or nothing for months; a persistent few reach £200–£800/month, usually by specialising in a niche rather than through volume.

Limitations

Earnings ranges are typical outcomes for a beginner, drawn from the sources; some people do far better or worse. Platform rules change often, so check the latest policy before you start.

VerdictWorks with limits

Works for some, not most.
