The claim

Turn books into AI-narrated audiobooks on Audible and Google Play for passive income.

Audible's expansion of AI narration was covered by TechCrunch in May 2025, and the KDP Virtual Voice beta remains available.

What the evidence shows

AI narration is a real, low-cost way to add an audiobook format, but it only earns if the underlying book already sells. Amazon KDP's Virtual Voice beta turns an eligible KDP ebook into an audiobook priced between $3.99 and $14.99, paying a 40% royalty on à la carte sales, and Google Play Books pays publishers a 52% revenue share on auto-narrated audiobooks. TechCrunch reported in May 2025 that more than 50,000 titles on Audible were labelled 'Narrated by: Virtual Voice', so competition is substantial. None of the sources give typical sales for AI-narrated titles.

Realistic earnings: Without an existing ebook that sells, AI narration on its own will not create income. The sources show royalty rates but not typical earnings.

Limitations

Earnings ranges are typical outcomes for a beginner, drawn from the sources; some people do far better or worse. Platform rules change often, so check the latest policy before you start.
