What the evidence shows

AI phone answering for small businesses is a real and growing market, but resellers face well-funded direct competitors and customers who are wary of talking to AI. Fortune reported in November 2025 that Beside, an AI receptionist for small businesses, had raised $32 million and had more than 20,000 paying customers, and named ElevenLabs, Vapi, Amazon and Microsoft as competitors in the space. A Gartner survey of 5,728 customers found 64% would prefer companies did not use AI in customer service and 53% would consider switching to a competitor, with difficulty reaching a human the top concern.

Realistic earnings: Someone with sales and technical skill could win clients, but they would be competing with funded products sold straight to the same businesses. The sources do not give typical earnings for resellers.

Limitations

Earnings ranges are typical outcomes for a beginner, drawn from the sources; some people do far better or worse. Platform rules change often, so check the latest policy before you start.
