The claim

Pump out AI-written web serials and get paid per read on fiction platforms.

What the evidence shows

Paid serial-fiction outlets have shrunk or are gated, and platforms that have seen floods of AI fiction are clamping down. Amazon closed Kindle Vella in February 2025, saying it 'hasn't caught on as we'd hoped', and Wattpad's paid programme, Wattpad Originals, is invite-only and chosen by editors. In China, Rest of World reported in July 2026 that Tomato Novel capped how many words each account can publish per day and rejected more than 104,000 low-quality submissions in June, while Jinjiang asked authors to limit AI to research and proofreading. In Japan, an AI-written novel that topped Kakuyomu's daily rankings in 2025 led to a backlash and an apology from its author.

Realistic earnings: The sources contain no typical earnings for AI-written serials. Rest of World notes that some people have earned from AI stories on Tomato Novel but gives no figures.

Limitations

Earnings ranges are typical outcomes for a beginner, drawn from the sources; some people do far better or worse. Platform rules change often, so check the latest policy before you start.
