What the evidence shows
There is a real skills gap among older people, but you'd be competing with free government-backed training. A UK government survey found only 18% of people aged 75 to 84 and 8% of those 85 or over had used generative AI in the past three months, and 32% of non-users overall said they didn't know enough about AI to use it. The government's AI Skills Boost programme offers free AI training to every UK adult. Among small firms, a 2024 British Chambers of Commerce survey found only 25% used AI and 43% had no plans to adopt it.
Realistic earnings: The sources show clear demand for help but no data on what paid workshops earn; free official training means paid sessions would need a clear local or personal advantage.
Limitations
Earnings ranges are typical outcomes for a beginner, drawn from the sources; some people do far better or worse. Platform rules change often, so check the latest policy before you start.
Works for some, not most.
