The claim

Grow faceless AI pages, then flip them for thousands on account marketplaces.

Account-flipping is pitched in creator circles, but press coverage is mainly Meta's 2025 lawsuit and academic research.

What the evidence shows

Selling accounts breaks platform rules, and the marketplaces where they change hands have been linked to scams in research. Instagram's terms say users cannot 'buy, sell, or transfer any aspect of your account', and in February 2025 Meta sued a man it accused of selling Instagram handles for $700 to $50,000. A CISPA study found 38,253 accounts advertised for sale across 11 marketplaces between February and June 2024, with a median asking price of $157, and identified 18.7K scam posts on the advertised accounts. Median prices ranged from $14 for Facebook to $759 for YouTube.

Realistic earnings: Most advertised accounts ask modest sums (a $157 median in the study), and selling breaks platform terms, so the account can be lost.

Limitations

Earnings ranges are typical outcomes for a beginner, drawn from the sources; some people do far better or worse. Platform rules change often, so check the latest policy before you start.
